It has come time to bid my readers farewell. Actually I have been very sad to ask how many have been enjoying the Monday blogs only to learn that very few took time to read them????????????????????
To those of you who have faithfully enjoyed the fun and frolicy fundraiser, I thank you.
Officially the Kissapig fundraiser draws to a close and we will soon be collecting canisters, or asking that you send your canister donations to the address on the labels. Please let us know the name of your business so we can send you a thank you photo and we will be accepting your donations for the Tapestries of Life Orphanage campaign until April 15th. Those who have paid your $10 or more pledge, you may expect your adorable photo sometime in April or May with love and appreciation.
Anyone still wanting to donate or request a picture of my big hog kiss may do so until that date.
This has been an incredible season for me with over 8,000 road miles, hundreds of dollars invested, and dedicated board members serving faithfully, not to mention those who own, feed, care for, and revere the mighty Pig Industry of America. My hats are off to each and every one of you, especially my visionary and helpful friends in South Dakota and Iowa.
I have made many friends, and memories, and even more realized that God really does have a great sense of humor, and I don’t regret one second of spending time with each and every one of you.

Thanks to all who have donated to the children of Mexico.
The latest sadly devastating world crisis in Haiti is a new need that appears to readjusting priorities and so I am releasing my plea to speak to each of you giving and generous souls who care, no matter where the need arises and saying God Bless You All.
On behalf of the homeless waifs, and hungry cold children of Mexico I thank you for partnering in this noble effort to help bring the children home.

Greetings out there. Hope everyone enjoyed a “sweet” Valentine’s Day celebration.
Wonder how they celebrate chocolate in Pigville, USA? Chocolate covered sausages???????????
Reflecting back on my recent visit to the 4,000 herd of Swine, I thought how much more pigs help mankind than just fill up a breakfast plate or a Bar B Q grill with pork ribs.
Pigs are making far greater sacrifices than giving Granny Abby a kiss to help raise funds for the Orphanage in Mexico. (Which by the way is in need of your giving your dollars and hoping you’ll join in the race soon.) Keep printing out those canister labels and setting them out for filling.
More recently, we have heard of skin grafts, yep, guess whose skin they can use. How about heart surgery? They are making porcine stents in open heart operations to save lives.
Guess, I’ll never look at Bacon in quite the same way again, how about you?
When I was out on the road, chasing down the “special” porker, the Latin term is porcus, meaning pig, part of the adventure was seeing how friendly, gentle and inquisitive these giant, but admittedly aromatic creatures can be. As we made our way down the walk way in the building these huge, oinking , animals actually climbed and tried to push one another out of the way to have their head scratched. They LOVE people attention.
I REALLY feel a book coming on in the future, after the busy-ness of the fundraiser ends.
An update on H1N1 - I refuse to call it the “S” word. They got such a bad wrap on that one.
Okay, so you have the flu, whatever flu it may be and you need lots of fluids, juice, even want to ice a headache? Well, go to the refrigerator and take care of that urgent need. ‘WAIT” all this time we have been focusing on flush handles, computers, tv remotes, and games like sports alive, wow what about the handle on the refrigerator. Yikes, major Clorox, Lysol need here!
You still need to stay home if you have a fever- at least 24 hours after the unmedicated fever, sneeze in your sleeve, disinfect as many hard surfaces as possible. Wash hands for 2 minutes ….frequently.
One of the greatest helps- use a humidifier, keeping nasal and throat passages lubricated is a proven way to deter invasion of germs. Use Saline nasal spray 2-3 times a day, and run a humidifier to keep your home at 40-60% moisture level. Flu and germ viruses LOVE dry noses and throats.

Well. I’d say so.
South Dakota and Iowa gave me a whole new outlook and deep respect for Hog farming. I will never quite view a BLT on toast or order Ham and Eggs and take that statement lightly, EVER AGAIN!.
Last week I had the honor of hugging cute little babies that yelled for their MA in an ear splitting decibel. Not quite sure if that high note is even on the musical scale or has ever been discovered OR charted.
Hard to kiss a squirming, squealer who acts like an electric piece of spaghetti, so I settled for hugs and the suuuuuuuuwwwwwwwwwwweeeet smell of piglet breath all over me and clothes. Hats off to the Bomgaars bunch!
Next, well you had to see it to believe it. Off to the Sandbulte Farm where my friends live that sort of helped launch this whole crrrrrazzzzzzzy idea last Fall. Yep, I saw it with my very own eyes, and smelled them with my very own nose; 4,000 big, fat, inquisitive, friendly, oinking cheerful, contented, happy hogs under one roof. I believe Sister Nora was right, I’m really a Sandbulte at heart, just got left behind at the hospital and all this time I thought I was Cherokee. ha ha
May put together an entertaining CD of my Hog travels and kiss pursuits for the low, low price of 9.95. Any takers? I got about 50 great photos to share and lots of cute stuff to say. All proceeds to the Orphanage in Mexico and cafeteria building program.
I asked lots of questions, and learned from the best! Never would I have ever imagined the immense amount of dedication to good sanitation, healthy watering systems, waste disposal, and the overall care, hard work and affection witnessed as these hard devoted folks coddled and scratched behind the ears of what I have come to learn are some of the most affectionate animals on earth.
They literally crowded around us to greet, sniff, snort, say hello in PIG LATIN lol and get their ears and noses rubbed. These people are the most devoted group of farmers I have ever had the privilege to meet.
Arrived back home after a 917 mile freezing drive, me and my trusty little travel buddy Miss Snuggles, my pet Rex bunny who loves bananas and motel visits.
Spoke to many who are happy that the campaign will not lose momentum, and the canisters are still available for you folks to display and fill until April 15. Go to kissapig.info to print out a label for yourselves.
Will begin next week in pursuit of more newspaper and radio interviews. We kind of feel a bit forgotten in contrast to the recent crisis in Haiti, but in my heart I know many of you will still not overlook the little ones, homeless, hungry, without shelter in Mexico, our own neighbor.

The Big Kiss

A fantastic ending to a campaign created in the hearts and minds of the faithful supporters for the precious children of Mexico.

An hour long ride from one State to another, Iowa to the border and suweeeeeeeeeeee here we are at the 2010 Empire Farm Competition in Sioux Falls, So Dakota. Pigs and cows everywhere!!!!!!

Hogs of every shape, size, color, weight AND disposition. Ever see a 400 # pig have a stress attack? It ain't pretty.

I climbed into pig pens, lay on wet saw dust, faced off with over 20 big porkers, endured the laughs of many, (all in good fun) WHAT IS THAT CRAZY OLD LADY DOING LAYING ON THE FLOOR STARING INTO THE FACES OF THESE HOGS DOING?

Well, that sure opened up a lot of doors to tell about Tapestries of Life, the Orphanage and the reason behind all this foolishness.

It gets sweeter as the day wears on.

A precious blessing, kind of like, made it really all worthwhile (for me) anyway. God truly has a wonderful way of letting you know when you are on the "right" track.

Hopefully, one day this excerpt will be found in the pages of the book I intend to write about the travels on this fundraiser and Pigkme. (Look out Babe!)

Just across the aisle from the pen where I had met some wonderful folks, The Bomgaars family, who had agreed to let me play with and kiss their champion competitor stock, stood a tall young man watching all the fun.

I turned to say, "Hi, do you know what this is all about?” He smiled and said something like" well, I heard you’re going to kissapig for a fundraiser and I think that’s cool."

I handed him the donation canister with the label wrapped around it and the young man, Jared, whose pen I was standing in said, "John,!!!!!! that's your pig!

I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EARS! What? And this is how the story unfolds

The young man hosting me at his pen said," that was taken last year at the Spencer County Fair, those are my gilts behind yours! John, then said, "you're right that's the Fall Show pig." (My mouth is hanging open.) I can hardly believe after 7,000 miles, all these months, all the promo, blogs and internet travel that I have ended up across the aisle for the owner of the adorable 'PIGKME" (which is the name I had given my standing up on the fence, begging to be noticed, personality plus pal on the website and label photo way last year.) Whoaa........, hold on it gets even better here.

I said, "What are the chances of this ever happening?" I always talk about sweet" PIGKME" and that photo has gone international, is in the newspaper this week, and has become almost a household word, well at least with anyone knowing about the fundraiser for the orphans of Mexico. HE WAS AMAZED AND PROUD, might I say, also very shocked at this incredible meeting.

Next, I shared my heart how I had bonded with that sweet, loveable, huge black and white Hampshire who so quickly made me giggle and had won my heart. I felt bad that "PIGKME" had to turn into ham for eggs or a BLT somewhere.
At times, thinking of the day we met in Spencer, Iowa, I almost cried what a ......sad ending.

“Oh, don't worry Abby she didn't end up on a plate for breakfast. I had a call from the man in Nebraska who bought her last year and she has just given birth to her second litter, they love her, she's a great ‘working’ mom and they are using her as a producer and she has a great life, just having babies and being spoiled.”

I actually teared up, it was such a happy ending to a perfect day.

My muscles are sore, my clothes filthy, covered with wet, sticky sawdust and I don't smell very good, but I got my kiss, face to face, lying on the floor in the elements with ‘Baby'. We will begin to share the new photos upon returning home. Not the big kiss though.

Cheating a bit on my blogger schedule just so "y'all" know.
If you've been watching the news and weather reports you will know that the Midwest is looking life the freezer part of your refrigerator.

We, here in South Dakota and Iowa have had freezing rain, sleet, pellets, and single digit temps for over a week and no break until next Tuesday. Schools, churches, businesses closed and folks asked to remain home and off the roads. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the good life.

Had a call from the N'West Iowa News in South Dakota checking on the correct spelling for a few names and locales before publishing the Kissapig.info story. Very friendly folks there.

Just cancelled my photo assignment at the hog farm for today, with 4,000 little snortin, sniffin hogs. The roads are all iced over so that visit will probably occur Tuesday the 26th. The day before my big pig rendezvous at Sioux Center Empire Livestock show.

Here's a funny one, spoke to the minister this morning in Rock Valley, Iowa, who has been a champion of the orphanage all along and requested the first pig kiss photo last year. He made it quite clear he would like to have the photo that he gets hand autographed, he wasn't "settlin" for name stamps. His church is currently organizing a mission team to go help build the Tapestries of Life Home. Following, the television filmed romantic smooch, I will be sending stamped, self- addressed envelopes to those who have canister donations to mail. Please contact the website to request your envelope.

The weather has been progressively nasty and I plan to head for Michigan from the Midwest area in about three weeks after all the storms have ended. Much paper work to do from there and still your Monday night blogs to write and track picture requests and donations.

Read and saw the picture of me and Pigkme in the news. Good job on the story and photos for the cause.

They plan to do a small follow up after Wednesday.

Greetings from the Frozen Tundra, or otherwise known as South Dakota/Iowa.

Not much Swine Flu excitement here. I think these farmers have quit chasing the flu bug and the pigs are all happy and well.

Arrived on Monday after an uneventful drive from El Paso, Texas, to be greeted by one degree weather, lots of snow and ice, and a new determination to see my dreams come true.

Learned almost immediately that I have a date with nine (count em - 9) big hogs in the area who are waiting to be kissed. That is scheduled for the middle of next week. Please sponsor me in my efforts to see the cafeteria built and help complete the orphanage in Guadalupe, home to a future 400 children.

Just today did an hour and a half news paper interview with a delightful couple of young folks dedicated to a full "human interest" story on the granny who loves the orphans enough to even kiss a pig. They were interested, and caught the vision -so to speak, and willing to help further the cause for the helpless kids of Mexico, defenseless against this bitter cold, the sexual threat of daily exploitation, the misery of hunger, and the loneliness of no one to look after them.

Planning a visit next week to the big hog farm of 4,000 head where the idea was born to hang out and do some interesting photo shooting.

Hello on this brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr blog night. Happy New Year 2010

I hope you and yours are safe and warm. I do believe that no respectable virus would be able to survive this Arctic weather. Leastwise, that's what the buzz is, you can Clorox it, freeze it or heat it but try to beat it the very best way you know how.

By the time the sun comes up tomorrow I will be on the road to go have another adventure in Hog Alley, Iowa.

Headed to the frozen South Dakota, Iowa region averaging 1-5 degrees daily. The latest "Hog Sighting" reported is a 550# sow who wants a kiss from this lil ole Granny, and I'm up for the challenge.

Sometimes, timing is everything right? It seems that alas the time has come because my kiss
pal will be headed to 4-H competition in about a week or so and we sure wouldn't want me to miss out on my kiss. By this time next week I should find myself knee-deep and surrounded by big oinkers.

This should be an interesting motor trip. I think all I will see leaving the deserts of Mexico and the West Texas Plains may be tumbleweeds and cactus frozen solid, maybe even a few icicles.

I will be visiting many major truck stops on my 12 State drive and requesting they put out the canisters and to accept donations to help build our huge orphanage in the barren, freezing desert.

Folks, there are no shelters giving out blankets, there are no soup kitchens, there are no folks walking up and down the streets handing out blankets. Please be a part of something bigger than any of us and donate a few dollars to protect these innocent children and perhaps provide a warm shelter for them soon. We are hoping and praying, that you see the need and rise to help us build this haven in the wilderness.

Another adventure!

Hello out there. And a very Happy New Year to each and all!

Hope you are healthy, wealthy, and wise, well at least wealthy enough to go to the donation link and post your $10 or more donation to help build the Orphanage so desperately in need of completing. Won't you dig deep, think sacrificially?

The CDC reports a decline in the reports of HINI in four major states between Dec. 20 -26. They are Delaware, Maine, New Jersey, and Virginia. Hooray.

Still lots of folks going to the Doctor's office, but not with HINI any more than regular seasonal flu.

Oh, here's a request (and I sure am on their side!) from the Hog Grower's Association of America. Would we mind referring to this flu campaign and press as HINI -- NOT Swine Flu. This "bad oink" is causing folks to not buy pork. Pork is safe! Please think about it and keep eating Ham and Eggs for breakfast just like you did before. There IS NO CONTAMINATION TO BE TRANSFERRED!

On Saturday I will leave Mexico, and take a trip away from the Orphanage to concentrate on more 'MUCH NEEDED" publicity on the Fight Swine Flu Panic - Help Bring the Children Home campaign.

Headed thru Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, "Hog Huntin" then onto Minnesota, Wisconsin, and finally home to Michigan. More pigs to visit and photograph, you know. I only want the cutest one to give my smooch to. Out of 4,000 on my friend’s farm I will surely find a fave!

Reason number 2: The financial balance of what HAS NOT left your pocket yet. You now have an extended opportunity to give to this worthwhile cause and help get this Orphanage completed.

I now plan to travel in April for my 'infamous kiss," or my "famous kiss," which ever is played up- by the media-at-large in Iowa.

I will be delivering my smooch to the huge hog, on the 4,000 head Hog farm to a newly raised and big fat bacon buddy in mid-April

Time flies when you're having fun.....

Now folks the latest is the USDA and CDC are preparing for the "next phase"? How sad that we have to hear that as we approach a New Year, which I hope for each of you, is filled with far better news than fear, dread, and illness.

They are taking the time to tell the latest stats from Native Americans/Alaskan Natives reporting the rates of fatality from Swine Flu. Well, that is just a reflection of the first fatalities that were covered last April in Mexico. Where am I going? Well readers, when you do the equation, you will find that all peoples regardless of race, creed, color, national origin that share a common denominator - the rate of loss will most assuredly be higher among poverty ridden peoples that lack nourishment and sanitation.

Soooooooooooo, onto my message for this Monday. We have no lack of lack, we have no shortage of shortages, no dismal reduction of life where there is dismal reduction of life, surprises, so do you think this year you might turn your heart to the gentle, impoverished nation of our South of the Border friends?

You won't have to go over seas, or third world to find the same abject poverty well-known the world wide. But let's give these folks a chance.

Will you fill up a canister, a piggy with your change and dollars, and make a difference? Let's help complete the construction of this huge orphanage in the Chihuahua Desert, South of Juarez. Now, a word to the wise. White processed sugar suppresses the immune system for up to a total of 4-6 hours, so think twice when you reach for those pies, cakes, cookies, because you need all the prevention of flu wisdom you can muster up this season.

Yippee, good news! Just working on my weekly USDA review and homework and this has me REALLY optimistic. Do you recall that just last week there was a significant drop in the rates of incidence in Swine Flu showing up for treatment in doctor's offices?

Well, those figures continue to drop. And here's the reason for my latest encouragement to those following the Kissapig campaign.

The latest USDA/CDC news releases between December 9 and December 11 don't even mention the dreaded 'S' word (Swine Flu , that is) something about a bark beetle epidemic????

Well, folks, please continue to do all you have been advised, it is OBVIOUSLY helping a great deal of folks. And pork is still safe to eat. Even if we are guilty of giving it to the pigs, you would never eat "raw" pork, and cooking destroys all viruses anyway. So have a BLT, or Ham and Eggs
for a special breakfast treat.

The campaign has taken an exciting turn. We are asking you "shoppers at large" to replace your coffee cans, and 2-litre soda bottles, or gallon pickle jars, look for 'COLORFUL PIGGY BANKS Dollar Store varieties and place those around town for donations to help ease the pain, hunger, misery, sexual abuse, and desertion of the wee ones homeless tonight in the cruel, cold desert environment.

If your piggy is well behaved, just, print out your label, fold in half, prop it up under your piggys' nose and place his little feet on the edge of the fold. Holds great and more people sit up and take notice in places of business when they see a cute little pig asking for help.

Hello out there.

There is a little light in the end of the tunnel from your piggy kissing Granny.

The latest update from the CDC in Atlanta, Georgia shows that Swine Flu reports
the recent number of States with Flu reported has dropped from 45 to 32 States.

Doctors offices across the Nation are showing sharp decreases in the number of
patients seen with Flu (seasonal or otherwise) . Lots of people are learning how to sneeze, wash, avoid, stay home, rest and drink lots, so perhaps we can relax, keep doing the preventatives and ease up on the panic. It seems we are making headway folks.

Now, on to other de----tails.. Would certainly love to see more and more advancement
in the enthusiasm for my taking the step and plunging right into a great, big smelly, hog pen
to give that huge old Porcine his smooch!

Hello Friends;

“Swine flu was discovered in Indiana, but the good news is that the pigs and the farmers
are recovering nicely,” Mr. Dave Warner of the North American Pork Products Council says.
“This is not a food or safety issue. It does not affect the meat, or contaminate the food source.” Pigs still catch it from people. The high mortality rate IS NOT caused by H1n1 but by the primary compromised health of an unfortunate person who already had an illness running wild in their body. Secondary flu complications would always be more dangerous we all know that.

FDA has issued an internet warning and are in hot pursuit of 'FRAUDULENT" Swine Flu products
listed on the computer networks. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

For folks who are preoccupied with worry, there is a website Mental anxiety about H1n1 from the American Psychology Association. (google that)

Soooooooooooo, let's move on here.

By now you are no doubt tired of turkey and maybe even Roast Beef or Ham?
Good time for us all to reflect on the many blessings we know. . No guilt trip here just
want to inquire of your holiday, hope all went well, and family times were wonderful
and refreshing.

It is also a great opportunity to remind you that shopping has begun officially for the
next big Holiday celebration. Whichever one you may celebrate.

all about the children who slept in the snow and rain last night, some whose fingers were lost
to frostbite, whose purity perhaps robbed for a small blanket or bowl of beans. Whose feet

Last week as I served at an outreach in the desert, it was heartbreaking to turn away as
many as we fed in one two-hour "dispensa" .

child in the Guadalupe desert .

Here at last. Actually, somewhere in Oklahoma, I believe, I crossed the HOG RIVER south of St. Louis on my travels from Michigan to Mexico.

Have you been following along? Hope you like the twins on this blog. Ahhhh the good life. Just lay around, eat, get fat ........then ........ go be a blessing to someone's table.

Better I was born a person than a hog, but I sure appreciate their sacrifice.

Speaking of which, are you still thinking of making a tiny sacrifice for the orphans of Mexico?
The clock is ticking, the kids are still freezing in the desert nights and hungry daily. The donation page is waiting for you to show up there.

Interesting event recently, my dear friend and VP of Ops wrote a message linking my name with Illegal Immigration. YOU SHOULD READ IT. WHAT AN EYE OPENER!
Those of you who know me, know better, so his approach to urging you to do something to help get the children into a safe place was at least UNIQUE!!!

People would want to get opinionated, political, and protest oriented but my approach remains one true focus; LOVE for a nation forgotten, who are not able to receive assistance, food stamps, WIC, public programs, or even hand outs very often. America, granted, has thousands in need, but THERE ARE avenues and programs available.

This Holiday Season, and most especially the one you will celebrate on this coming Thursday, should be a big enough reminder that somewhere in the shopping budget may be an extra $10 bill for those not eating anything, across a small ribbon of highway, a little river in places, known to all as the Mighty Rio Grande. Come on folks, go to the website and send your donation, you'll get a receipt, and you will also see the real deal.

I will not be celebrating the Thanksgiving Holiday with you. I will join the little children and do without until I see the hearts of you who read this blog come alongside and help finish this work of God in the desert of Guadalupe, db Chihuahua Mexico.

Did you enjoy your trip to Disneyland? Go back to last weeks' blog and remember, I promised,
every Monday night. Thanks for stopping by. Did you see me burping the baby?

They are saying more folks are getting Swine Flu than regular flu. They also say vaccines are
in high demand, with short supply, AND they say now a new group should receive the H1N1 shot.

Who do you believe? The thing that seems to be the most serious common thread is where to
get info that is reliable. Go to Webmd.com or CDC swine flu info sights.

The best thing that I have heard so far is it doesn't last very long. For that I am grateful and know a few friends who have been there, already.

The sad news is that it can be very dismal news if you already have a pre-existing condition.
You have heard that right?

I think prayer and pure water, avoidance of crowds, and good hygiene seem to still be the front line defense.

Saturday, Granny Abby loaded up the car and head cross country telling others about the orphans of Mexico who by the way will have NO shot clinics available, and for the most part no pure water.

I will be inviting all that I meet to play a part in the Kissapig campaign in progress . We hope to pick up momentum now that all parts of the plan are in place. Think of the money we will spend on Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season ahead. Can you spare $ for starving, freezing children. I think you just might be able to if you stop and think about what "true" giving is. smile.....

Two days ago it dropped to 22 degrees in my hometown. DIVERSIONS NEEDED

The world seems in an upside down, topsy turvy spin, with more bad news every day so I have decided to give you some good news.

In 1928 Mickey Mouse was born on the desk of Walt Disney.
In 1938 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs showed up on the scene
5 years later, this genius of a child in grown up clothing came up with Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi and in 1955 his "dream" theme park was born - The first of many.

I have something in common I think, maybe, with Walt Disney, and I say this with the deepest humility to even suggest that he and I could have been pals. WHY?

A common bond, WE WERE CREATED TO BE DIVERSIONS: To cause you to smile awhile.....

Here is a suggestion when you think about how you will spend the holidays and all your money seems to just run out, (in all directions!!!) why don't you pick one ten dollar bill and follow along as this little Granny, destined for greatness (?????????? - Yeah, maybe!) kisses a great big pig on an Iowa farm, right on his huge pink snout to raise funds to build the children a home in Mexico.
